The link to this video is http://vimeo.com/39715051

The password to view it is cognigen

Post questions and comments here on the forum vs on vimeo.  If anyone can tell me how to embed vimeo vids on a SMF Forum I will start doing it that way.  I used both the old and new embed codes and the forum wouldn't allow either one of them to function.

Hey Jack,

I'm not having any luck with this video. It says that it's deleted or never existed. Anyone else have luck?

Loved the video. Question: is there anything that we can do to get from the 200/day audience to the 1000/day audience? For my site, I think it's a little premature to pursue advertisers but I definitely want to go that route once my visitors increase.

TIA for any ideas!

Guys I watched the video and I thought i would give something to the community.

It's a basic form collection system that you could use for this or any other reason.

If you decide to use the program I would appreciate it if you would send some visitors to my facebook page is http://www.facebook.com/saveourskills THIS IS NOT MANDATORY... only do it if you want to. But if you do this then THANK YOU

if you need help OR if you decide to use it drop me a line nick at saveourskills.com . I'd like to know if you use it (it will make me feel all warm and fuzzy)

Features

  • It uses http://twitter.github.com/bootstrap/ for professional styling
  • Completely customize both your contest page and your thank you page
  • You define the form. Add any fields you want to it and they are automatically captured. You can make multiple forms by copying it to multiple directories
  • Easy form validation... just add class="required" to the form field and your all set
  • Hijacker protection
  • Form submit refresh detection
  • Date and time is automatically captured
  • Form results are written to an encrypted file NO DATABASE REQUIRED
  • Administration Area
  • Multiple entry support (just define your form field with brackets after it as in the example)
  • Download your results to excel
  • Clear all entries
  • Generate random entry

If I were to improve it I would prevent a certain field value (e.g. Email) form being submitted more than once per $x minutes...

Anyway you can download it here

Well there are 100 episodes of FMwJ to go though and follow that will help with that but short answers.

Make sure you are doing lead capture (email, facebook, twitter) effectively so you keep bringing them back.

Use a good email system and make sure the list is pinged when ever you post anything, if you use aweber and a blog you can fully automate that.

Buy some traffic and push it to a landing page that does the two things above.

New content every day and make it kick ass.

Time takes it from there, if you do the above.

Thanks for the info Jack. I have all of your podcasts on my little mp3 player. Between FMWJ, TSP and Paul Wheaton's stuff, there's barely any room for anything else. Thank you for the service you provide for your listeners!

I'm currently using MailChimp and I like it...I guess I'm not using it to its max but I will make it a priority to learn the ins and outs so that I can do just that.

I'm currently not buying any traffic but I am earning some residual income (I got a writing gig from a magazine and I'll be speaking to a garden club next week as a result of the website). I will take some of that money and invest it back into the site to push traffic.

I post 5 days a week thanks to you. My readers seem to appreciate it and I guess google does too. I put in phrases that show up in Woopra and I seem to be ranking pretty high on certain terms.

Thanks again Jack!

Great Video. definitely membership material. Questions, one do you specify what product you want for a prize or leave it up to the company and two is there a limit to the value of the prize you wouldn't exceed ($100, $200, $300 or more).

Could you use pay with a tweet or one of the other social payment platforms for your contest entry?
