Has anyone else been denied affiliations with amazon
« on: February 22, 2012, 10:31:12 PM »
Amazon has terminated my affliation application, because my website is "political". Has anyone else had this problem? Or is Amazon a bunch of... Is it just Amazon?    >:(

I guess I might have a tough niche as far as affiliates go...?

No absolutely no adult content... I don't even click the "explicit" button on my iTunes feed. www.therevolutionisyou.com                Empowering people though liberty, activism and localism.

I had my Amazon affiliate terminated a while back because I live in California. It was because of the whole tax fight, but then they reinstated it. Is there something going on statewide where you live?

(Emphasis added...)

From their terms:

Quote

To begin the enrollment process, you must submit a complete and accurate Program application. You must identify your site in your application. We will evaluate your application and notify you of its acceptance or rejection. We may reject your application if we determine that your site is unsuitable. Unsuitable sites include those that:
(a)   promote or contain sexually explicit materials;

(b)   promote violence or contain violent materials;

(c)   promote or contain libelous or defamatory materials;

(d)   promote discrimination, or employ discriminatory practices, based on race, sex, religion, nationality, disability, sexual orientation, or age;

(e)   promote or undertake illegal activities;

(f)   include any trademark of Amazon or its affiliates, or a variant or misspelling of a trademark of Amazon or its affiliates, in any domain name – for example, a domain name such as <endlessboots.com>, <amaozn.com>, <smallpartsstore.com>, <amazonauctions.net>, <kindlemagazines.mydomain.info>, or <kindlewirelessreader.co.uk> would be unsuitable;

(g)   include any trademark of Amazon or its affiliates in any username, group name, or other identifier on any social networking website – for example, a username such as “Endless Shoes,” “Amazon Japan,” “Smallparts Hardware,” or “Kindle For You” registered on a social networking site such as Twitter or Facebook would be unsuitable; or

(h)   otherwise violate intellectual property rights.

If we reject your application, you are welcome to reapply at any time. However, if we accept your application and we later determine that your site is unsuitable, we may terminate this Operating Agreement.

I don't see politics in there, perhaps this is section B listed above?

This is sticking in my craw a bit... would you mind posting the rejection notification that Amazon sent you?

@ UFAB- No I live in FL. we're pretty free market friendly.

@jrj- I don't promote violence... Although I've called Soros a traitor and that he should be tried as such... :)

Here's a copy and paste of the e-mail they mis-typed political.

"Hello,

I have reviewed your application to the Amazon.com Associates Program and found was ploitical.

Accordingly, we have closed the account under which you had been temporarily approved, and access to Associates Central has now ended.

If you would like to reapply, please do so at the link below:

Thanks for your interest in the Associates Program.

I think you should raise a stink about this. Nowhere in their terms do they say your site can't be political, and Glenn freaking Beck has amazon affiliate links.

I agree that's crap especially when they sell a lot of political books!

I was once trying to post my blog in a blog directory and they kept denying it saying I had pornographic material on it. A bee and gardening site! I don't know how they came to that conclusion, but when I resubmitted, their answer was still no. I think the submission process was automated which made communication tough, so I just went on to another blog directory.

All that to say that maybe getting a human will ease the process rather than a machine.

I'm wondering if they were substituting political for anarchic.  I checked out your site and I agree with everyone here.  The decision is crap.  The site is sound.  But I can see how folks outside the 5MwJ and TSP crew could see both the site name "The Revolution is You" combined with your header picture and shortsightedly deduce that it is a site about anarchy (please hear me when I say that this would take some veeeery cursory non-in depth reviewing) and then knee-jerk pull the site.

Just another possible option: keep the content all the same, change the header and resubmit unless you are fed up with Amazon.   ;D

Good luck!

That's good advice (and of course you can change the header back after approval.)

Those faces in that picture are miners on strike... Those faces are us. It's like Jack says who do you serve? I may try to contact a human and resubmit, but I cannot compromise. Their reaction is a prime example of fear that is growing in this country. Fear to act or the people having and exercising their power. Thanks everyone.

I may have to change the header picture to my podcast  logo for other reasons. Are there any other affiliate programs like Amazon that hock books or audiobooks?
