Looks good - I've had good luck with ThemeForest, just choose a theme that has good ratings and isn't brand new (bugs worked out).

I'm about to use ThemeForest for the first time. After two weeks of researching I think the Volt! Magazine theme will work best for my new project.

From the looks of it this theme meets those requirements, plus from reading several pages of comments the author seems to be really good at requests and tech support for no additional charge. Hard to beat for $35.

I'm a huge fan of Page Lines http://www.pagelines.com/ and other Wordpress frameworks like  studio press http://www.studiopress.com

If you want to make your own themes and don't want to mess with PHP and CSS then I say grab Artisteer wordpress wysiwyg http://www.artisteer.com/

I used artisteer 3.0 and I loved all the automatic options and suggestions it gave, but ran into difficulty when it came to specifics. the problem I had was when I wanted to outline certain sections and found the table within table methods they used for organizing the webpage got in the way. I was able to keep my base theme, but a friend who knows webmaking better than I had to fix it for me, so I could get the effect I wanted. Also, Artisteer had a hard time saving my themes, even though I have the full version. I'll probably try something else next time.

Matt did you have a hard time exporting the theme or saving?

The newer version makes modification of CSS much simpler than before.

In my opinion the most robust and customizable theme available for WordPress is Thesis. Thesis is GREAT! It can be a little confusing to someone who does not have experience with CMS's like WordPress. That is okay though because there are tons of YouTube videos on how to use it.

You can pick it up here: http://diythemes.com/

Have you tried the Standard theme from http://standardtheme.com? I was thinking of giving it a try. I may wait to see how thesis 2.0 looks before investing in Standard.

Well I do not have a favorite site for finding wordpress themes. I guess technically that would be either youtube or google :)

My favorite themes are Thesis, Standard Theme, and I may try Catalyst.

My favorite theme is Standard Theme because of the support and licensing.  Much better for developers like me who install it on many client sites.  I have examples in my portfolio on my website. Everything but leanchef was done with standard theme.
Resources I use.
Bluehost Web Hosting. Reliable uptime, great interface and amazing customer service.
Standard Theme The wordpress them I use for most of my sites

I use "Platform 1.4.1" by PageLines, I like how clean and simple it is and it gives a lot of options for widget location.

Currently, my favorite free Wordpress theme is Weaver.  http://boomerempowerment.com/wordpress101/weaver/

Lets you easily change colors, header, background image and more.  Sidebars and widgets lots of options, page templates and more.  I also bought their premium plugin which gave me more options for customizing the css without having to go into the core theme files, helps with upgrades, etc.

Thanks for sharing this Heidi!  I'm going to switch mine over tonight, this was exactly what I was looking for.  I'm having trouble with my current theme, twenty eleven and getting my custom header in there.  The tutorials are awesome!

Hi All,

I've been wedded to Atahualpa for a couple of sites due to it's versatility however I'm trying Genesis and one of the child themes (executive) on a site I put together recently. I had previously attempt to use one of the 'elegant themes' but got frustated with the lack of flexibility and clunky graphics handling.
