StumbleUpon Paid Discovery

If anyone is using StumbleUpon Paid Discovery. Are you linking to a post, or the general website?

I've used it.

I find linking to individual posts yields better results than linking to individual pages, and that you get a lot more bang for the buck if you only link to your best posts.

Basically, If I linked to the front page of the site, I'd have an extremely high "bounce rate" (often 80%) and not really get much value out of the paid clicks... but if I linked to a really interesting article/post I'd get low bounce rates (under 50%) and people would stick around and view 2 or 3 pages on average.

Stumbleupon is a great source of inexpensive traffic... but only if you link to content that will get "liked" by the people who visit your site... because then it acts as a multiplier-- not only will you get 3 page views out of each paid visitor, but stumble upon will wind up sending you organic traffic in addition to the paid traffic if a reasonable percentage of users give the page a thumbs up.

I just started using it about 10 days ago and I'm actually linking directly to my front page. It seems to be working for me because my bounce rate is around 29%. Like I said, I have only been running this for 10 days so my stats may be way off. What I'll do is run this add for a full 30 days and then run 30 days of direct to content add.

Jack sends people to a landing page.

I should have mentioned that my results with landing pages was on par with linking to individual articles in terms of bounce rate, but didn't get a thumbs up from as many paid visitors, so I tended to get the traffic I paid for and nothing more... but when I paid for traffic to articles I got more organic traffic (i.e. I wound up going into the normal, unpaid stumbleupon rotation) and got 2-3X the visitors I paid for.

If you can optimize the landing pages such that they achieve similar "thumbs up" ratings this advantage goes away.

How was it for conversions and/or subscriptions?

No better or worse than other traffic sources.

Do you wait to see if something gets traction first to find the best post to link to?

I know my bounce rates are going to be extremely high to start out with.

Honestly, what you need to do is create a product.  A guide to repairing nintendo systems for example and where to get the parts would be great.  Especially how to fix the N64 controllers, where to get the replacement sticks.  They physically wear down.  You could do an ebook or better yet a video training program.  Just my 2 cents.
Resources I use.
Bluehost Web Hosting. Reliable uptime, great interface and amazing customer service.
Standard Theme The wordpress them I use for most of my sites

Ok so i just signed up and paid way to much had tons of visitors but extremely high bounce rate. This is for our soap page. one thing i am going to change is the demographics i let them set them last time, that was one mistake. So how much money would you spend on one campaign and what can you expect for bounce rate? The other thing i am going to change is i only want to advertise to people in the U.S. Should of changed the settings myself  :-\

do you think there is any advantage on spreading out your visitors say 10 dollars a day for ten days  vs 100 dollars no limit?

Thanks, I got a 100 dollars worth of free advertising with google so we will try that and see how it goes next time i use stumbled upon i am going to spread it out.  We have had reall good luck advertising with blog owners directly and the best thing is, is a personal referral will always out perform.  I know my wife's soap is a good product you can read tons of good reviews on her fb page of people that love it. It is all about finding the right people.  ;D
