PDF Hyperlinks NOT working.
« on: September 14, 2012, 11:56:04 AM »
I just busted my ass finishing my eBook. I converted it to a PDF and after all that hard work, the damn links don't work. Does anyone know a free solution on how to fix this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

1. What software did you write it in? Microsoft Word 2007?
2. What software did you use to convert it to pdf with?

1. I wrote it in Pages for Mac, newest version.
2. Same

I've been reading around the web and apparently, I don't know if this is true, but links have been disabled by Adobe in newer versions of reader. However, I opened mine in preview and it's still not working. I would like to stick with converting with pages but I'm open to other options. I haven't tried Calibre yet.

I have used Pages before and like it, but its PDF saving might not work with links.  You might have to use Adobe's super expensive products to generate it...  Have you tried saving PDFs with links in them in other programs?  Like for example save a website in a PDF and see if the links work.  Apple's PDF save might just not support links.

I am not on a Mac now or I would test it myself for you.

I found out a way to do it. You can open the program "preview" on a mac. You can then edit the PDF by searching under the help tab for "Annotate" an inspector will come up and allow you to add links, one by one to all of the text that you want to. VERY annoying but worth it. I now have 100 subscribers due to my free eBook.
