Your site looks great. It loads quickly and is easy to navigate. A+
Are you planning on adding any other items to your offerings?

I just updated my wife's hand crafted soap company website and am looking for some constructive feedback on the sites appearance and user experience.

The site is running Wordpress and can be found at http://lakelilysoaps.com .

Thank you for your time.

All the best,

My general way of dealing with this is that it's someone I've interacted with in the past and seems like someone I'd like, I accept.  You're right about FB changing a lot lately.  I've just decided that anything even remotely personal doesn't need to be on FB anymore, so I don't really worry about who sees my stuff on FB.

Having some of your biggest fans on your personal page sounds good, but what happens when either you get big enough that it becomes a problem, or someone who isn't your biggest fan gets on your personal page?

Although I don't use Facebook much for my personal stuff, mostly just my blog, I think keeping the two separated is a good idea, even with Facebook constantly messing with what people see from peoples pages.

Hey Everyone,
It's been a while since there's been much activity here, but I still keep in touch with a few of you, and value your opinion.

Recently, I've begun getting Facebook Friend requests from my readers/listeners. On one had, I like to keep some of my personal life personal, but on the other hand, with the way Facebook has been changing things for fan pages, having my biggest fans on my personal page may be a good way to build relationships and keep them coming back.

What say you?
WordPress Wizardry / CSS Sprites
« Last post by average_guy on February 19, 2014, 04:37:07 PM »
Basically, does anyone have any experience with these.  I've been really digging down into the grinds on how to optimize my sites images.  I've come a long way, but sprites seem to be the next step.

I have used SpritePad to generate the sprites and the generic css that I should need, but I'm having trouble implementing it.  Sure, it's easy when you're throwing it up on a text editor, but actually implementing it into WP seems to be giving me a hard time.  I'm also not sure if I'll be able to overlap where the links originally were or if I'm going to need to hard code in the HTML to go along with the sprites.

Basically, if anyone has any experience using sprites, I'd appreciate a little guidance.

Hey Quebecker,

Not sure why you're posting that here.  I recommend starting a new thread next time.

I can't imagine you needing to edit code on a social media plugin.  Of course, I can't imagine using a social media plugin that's specific to Facebook.  Try looking for a more general social media plugin.  Also, check the details before installing anything if you're not already.  I haven't seen a dedicated Facebook plugin in a while and would definitely want to know how old it is.

I'm not huge on Twitter, but it is a great tool.  Start off with friends that have it.  See if you can't get a few to re-tweet.  Then start searching for keywords and following people who match your niche.  It should start to roll from there.  You can also use twitter by searching for questions other's have in your niche (photography right?).  I'm more of an amateur / hobby photographer so I may sound completely ignorant here, but you can search for questions like "which mode on my new DSLR is best?"  If you reach out to that person and answer the question, you're building brand credibility and people will generally reciprocate by following and such.

How do you get your first people onto Twitter?  Did you use your personal friends on Facebook and Twitter?  Or just created the account, and people found it?

I added the plugin "Add Link to Facebook", but I can not find how I tell the plugin what facebook page to goto.  Do I have to edit the code to make it go where I want it too?
