That is weird. I seem to have good luck with scheduling. Other than my own stupidity, like punching the times wrong. LOL I hope you get it worked out.

Thanks for the kind words.

The company approached me about the review. Most of the things like that have happened due to people approaching me. I guess that means it time to start a request blitz.

Hey everyone.

I know that this forum is all about dead, and if no one reads this its cool. I am just excited to share. I just did a review, video and post for an oil filter company. I also have another one that I am writing now. It is very basic stuff, so it's easy to write. This is the first time I have accepted an offer like this. I like the product and used it for years even before I was a pro mechanic.

The 2 posts and video paid $800! I am freaking excited. It is great to have the hard work pay off.

Hope y'all are doing good.

It is nice to know that some of y'all are still lurking around :)

Hey everyone.

I am glad that this forum is still going. I also hope that you guys are all killing it with your sites. I have had mixed success.

I don't plan on doing anything different with my mechanic blog. I am going to start a new site.

My wife and I are moving to a 5 acre homestead in Pittsboro, NC. We couldn't be more excited.

I want to start a new site that documents all the things we do to the property. Including tips on sell a house. We sold our current house in 40 HOURS, for fill price.

The site will focus on things very local to Pittsboro. Some names I have been kicking around are Pittsborohomestead.com or NChomestead.com.

I am digging into google word search tools to see what is searched more, I just was hoping for some input from you guys. I have talked my wife in to doing most of the work for the site. She is against using it to make money(not sure why), but I plan to sneak some profitable stuff in where I can.

We are in a similar spot dude.

I am in NC and we have the same BS Amazon rules here too. That is a huge disadvantage, but we just need to work through it.

Keep on pluggin man, we will get there!

Article Writing and Blogging / Re: Question about Guest Blogging
« on: October 09, 2012, 07:04:27 AM »
Well, on the surface, I don't get anything. Here is how I am looking at it.

1) It will be lots of exposure for me
2) Links back to my site.
3) Something I can add to the "resume`".
4) The chance to work with some professional media companies. That I can use as a resource down the road.

So in my mind it is worth it. MY concern is doing the work for someone else, and them using my content for their profits.

I was mostly wondering if anyone had experience with this type of guest blogging. And how it worked out for them..

Oh, and the chance for some free tires too.

« on: October 08, 2012, 11:18:15 AM »
I was contacted by a really big tire company last week. They asked me if I would be willing to do some guest blogging.

We had what amounted to a phone interview last week too. I didn't really expect that. It was strange.

So I agreed to do some guest posts for them. We talked about 6 over the next year. The commitment seems really low. I think that I can retool some of my posts I have written and submit that.

What do you guys think?

Thank you very much I am really excited.

I have just been keeping track. I am looking at ~ 150 or so entries. I can track most of it and asked folks just to post how they shared it. So it should be really easy with that low of numbers.

In the future I will have to use something to keep track. This was a great learning experience.

I will say that Instagram was one of the best places. I posted a pic of the item, and got a bunch of likes and "I want" type comments.

If you are not on Instagram DO IT!!!!!

Hey everyone!
I hope that all your sites are doing really well! I like to hear when y'all have success. I thought I would share this little story.

I did a little giveaway on my site. It is actually still going on right now. I will be picking a winner tonight. ;)

I did a modified version of the video Jack did a while back. I got a magnetic tray from one of the big tool companies. I have had it for a few months, but I was waiting for a good time to give it away.

I posted a picture of it on my weekly post were I show the crazy pictures from work. I gave people a few ways to enter to win
1) Sign up for the email alerts
2) Share the post on Facebook
3) Tweet the post out
4) Pin any of the pictures on pintrest.

I also threw in the folks that were on the email list already. Since not everyone is on FB and Twitter, and I didn't want to leave out the folks that have been with me since the beginning.

I also made a few posts about it on various forums. Since not everyone reads signatures, and I don't want to ram my blog down people's throats. You get a much more positive response when you give things away.

In 2 days I have gotten 13 new likes on FB, and 17 new email subscribers. I also had the most 1 day traffic ever. So something that will cost me shipping has netted me some new readers and some very positive feed back.

I can't help but thing a "Ways to store your Halloween stuff" type post would be awesome! A how to guide to make next years setup a breeze.

Or "Don't buy those expensive decoration holders, here is how to store decorations for free"

I know it is totally off topic, but just a thought.

I feel like this was brought up in a past show.

I don't remember which one, or if it was exactly this. Basically it was start the site with your content then move to user generated.

That or I totally missed the mark...  ;)
