I'm still very intersted in joining or creating a mastermind group. Please let me know if anyone is interested!!!! I will set it up with Skype or Zello or something.

Yep, it works. My Facebook stats have increased dramatically. Not that many people are even "sharing" my contest posts which sucks but I've reached a lot of people (for me at this time it's a hell of a lot). Scroll to the right to see the entire image.

Josh,

I tried to resubmit that URL today and it worked. Thank you very much!

OK, I tired that Josh, thank you. I think this is the way to go. However, I just got this message after I submitted that URL. "We had difficulty downloading episodes from your feed"  I'm really lost as to what to do at this point. I submitted that same url to feed validator and it looks fine, with the exception of this:

This feed is valid, but interoperability with the widest range of feed readers could be improved by implementing the following recommendations.

line 30, column 9: title should not be blank [help]

      <title></title>
         ^
line 30, column 9: Image title doesn't match channel title [help]

      <title></title>

Maybe a mod could move this to "Wordpress Wizardry" ?

Podcasting Central / More iTunes Issues

I'm trying to resubmit my podcast to itunes. Long story short it's not on itunes anymore. I switched my podcasts to fall under the "podcasts" category/tag on my wordpress website. All my podcasts can be found at: http://agriculturalinsights.com/category/podcasts/

This is the URL I tried to submit to itunes, but it came back with this error message and I have no idea how to edit the XML file for the "podcasts" category. "Error parsing feed: Invalid XML: Error on line 186: the element type "meta" must be terminated by the matching end tag "</meta>".

Any ideas? Thank you in advance.

Motivational Mania / It's Happening!
« on: February 03, 2013, 01:36:04 PM »
Well it's starting to happen. I've increased my email subscribers dramatically. My web traffic has increased dramatically as well. I'm starting the giveaway contest concept that was put out by Jack later in the month. I already have 5 companies on board with products in hand and I'm waiting on a few more to confirm. I also secured an advertising spots from one the companies that I contacted. The check is in the mail! It's starting to happen. I can feel it that I will be making a full time income within the next year or two. I just wanted to give people some motivation that if you stick with it, things will start to happen for you. I'm also in the process of writing my second eBook, which my audience will have to buy.

My first ebook was free, with the stipulation that you have to sign up for my email list in order to get. This has been the best thing that I could have done. Massive increases in traffic and subscribers. I've also got a few superfans who share all my stuff on Facebook and twitter. It can happen, stick with it!

Cheers

WordPress Wizardry / Re: Wordpress and Facebook connection
« on: January 31, 2013, 03:20:43 PM »
I use one called simply Add Link To Facebook and it works really well. I post daily, sometimes several times a day and it posts to FB immediately after I publish the blog. I haven't found one that works as well for Twitter so I still do that one manually. But Add Link will even edit the link if you edit the post. It's a really good plugin.

Yes, this program works awesome!

Physical Products / Re: From Concept To Sellable Product...
« on: January 25, 2013, 08:44:24 AM »
Unfortunately I don't have any advice for you in this area but I'm looking forward to following this thread to see what people have to say. It'd be nice to get Jack's take on this, as he has some involvement in the TSP gear shop. I don't know how involved he is in the physical products though. I'd eventually like to make T-shirts or other physical products. Let us know how it goes!

Electronic Product Marketing and Development / Re: My New eBook!!

I just downloaded your book and it looks great.  Ignore my comment on your other post about this - I am reading the new posts backwards since I haven't visited here for weeks :)

The download worked fine for me.  I saved it for future reading since I can see it has a lot of good info.  I live in the city now but hope to one day live at my BOL in the country.  This is great work, maybe you can post ads for the free book elsewhere, like in a magazine like Backwoods Home.  That could get you some new readers.

Thanks! I love the idea of advertising in a publication. I'll have to look into their advertising rates. I hope you enjoy the book =]

What you have done is that you have included files that is 4000x3000 pixels, which is to big. I resized the width to 500 px and kept the aspect ratio. That shrinked the file size from 13,7 MB to 307 kB, and 40,4 kB with some jpeg compression.

So I suggest that you resize the image size for all images and save them as a jpeg with about 75% quality. This image was the polywire on page 10.

Thanks for the info, I'm now offering a low quality and high quality version in my follow-up e-mail. In the future I will do your method of reducing the size of each jpeg.

Congrats!

How did you manage the time to write it?  That takes some dedication.  I wish I could call in sick to work or something for a week so I could do something like this.

I'm lucky. I'm currently substitute teaching, so I can take off any day I want. I took off an entire week to get it all done! I'll be leaving for South Africa for a ranching internship, so I'm in a transition period. If I had a 9-5 job, I'd try and get one section done a day.

I now have 100 subscribers and the numbers keep going up!

I have used Pages before and like it, but its PDF saving might not work with links.  You might have to use Adobe's super expensive products to generate it...  Have you tried saving PDFs with links in them in other programs?  Like for example save a website in a PDF and see if the links work.  Apple's PDF save might just not support links.

I am not on a Mac now or I would test it myself for you.

I found out a way to do it. You can open the program "preview" on a mac. You can then edit the PDF by searching under the help tab for "Annotate" an inspector will come up and allow you to add links, one by one to all of the text that you want to. VERY annoying but worth it. I now have 100 subscribers due to my free eBook.

Now I'm up to 80+ subscribers. It just keeps going!

I recently tried the contest and it was an epic fail. I was going to do 15 days, but I could not get sponsors and ended up narrowing it to 5 days.

I contacted about 60 companies telling them what I was doing trying to get them to donate a prize. I tweeted about it and announced it just like Jack said to. I had 2 companies respond with prizes. I had one respond from the tweet. An advertiser gave me some products to give away and I used them as part of the contest. And I ended up buying an expensive holster for the fifth prize.

I totally messed it up. I ended up having to ship everything and I only got about 50 entries and were on the last night.

First off my audiance was not big enough. Secondly 45 days was not nearly enough time. Even though I shortened it, still was not enough time.  Third 5 days is not enough time for people to find out about it and jump on board. It needs more time. I think 15-20 days like Jack said to do.

I'm going to possibly try again near Christmas, but I will more than likely wait till next fall. This contest in reality has set me back instead of moving me forward.

Just sharing my experiences so everyone can learn.

That's a good learning experience for us, so thank you for trying. How much traffic do you have? There is so much I want to do, but I can't due to a small amount of traffic, at least that's what I think anyway. I'm now at 80 unique visitors a day. Also, how connected are you with people on Facebook and Twitter. I formed a few good relationships with people on twitter who have a lot of followers. I give them help, and encouragement without trying to "sell" them anything. Then, when I need help with promotion or something I ask them for help. Some of them have 3,000+ followers and they are basically marketing for me.

Any other tips or advice?
