That's pretty cool, Quirky looks like they like to make and sell small products, easier to make and ship with higher margins. I'm sure your table would be great for a company like Ikea...I'll look for them to make something similar once they see your design. For a company like that what a great marketing strategy, have someone else give you ideas, if it's a good idea it will become apparent soon and then thay can make them and sell it...win win

I think if your longer term goal is to kids outdoors that you should focus on that alone. I'm not sure what sort of things are already out there for parents but I think a podcast that would specialize in that would be a great target.

Check out the podcast answer man podcast if you haven't already, even though he's all about podcasting which I'm not I value his insights and professional podcasts, nothing turns me off of a business type podcast more than too much of the show being BS about this or joking around...

I think if you setup a blog along with that and try to fill guest speakers in the niche already and articles on the subject matter. People who have kids camps, outdoor sports, training etc....plenty of them out there. Focus some time of each show on training them for being successful adults etc. Look at all the free and paid parenting magazines to get ideas, also see what's missing.

Even though it's not really related I have a friend who wanted to build his son a really professional looking Car Bed, he made it with real car parts, spent like $4K on it. Then he blogged about it on a automotive enthusiast forum and ended up selling a few for $6-10K and made a business out of it, so you never know where it may lead you.

BTW, the worst you could do is fail, maybe loose a few hundred bucks at the most....one of the best investments you can make is in yourself, being a stay at home dad with 2 kids I can see where this would work easily....one of the biggest markets in the world is 2-14 age group.

Just make it happen, get it going and send me the link!

Peer Review - Website Blog Critique / Feedback On Sales Copy/Site
« on: March 07, 2013, 12:30:57 AM »
So I just updated and started a new site, that's basically a sales page for one of my products. First time I've done a sale-scopy type page outside of eBay so I'm sure it needs more work. It still has some things to get up like my install videos and some more documentation. I have my main business dedicated site http://heezy.com and now my new site at http://easytransferswitch.com

I know their isn't too many people left around here, but any feedback on the layout and message would be great, I only have Firefox & IE8 to test it on too...

I'll be driving traffic to the easy transfer switch site through several sites, along with PPC & organic methods. I'll be getting most of my sales through Amazon & Other sites until I can get to a trade show and hopefully a distributor.

That's what I have so far, so let me know.

I have a hard time committing much time to social stuff, I like to hit the few sites I visit everyday see whats happening and then I'm off. Life is really busy right now, I know if I could do more it would help, but I'm already up from 5am until 10 or 11 every day.

Not to get away from the original post, but does anyone know how much it hurts/helps having your sites on different IP's...I moved several of mine to save $$$. I had been using different hosts for 8 sites, now I got 3 onto one server. I have another 2 or 3 in the works..but having been trying to focus just on a few right now.

I personally think it might have been effecting some of the people who follow or possibly work with him on TSP. Listening to the 5MWJ podcast several times over I found that much of his info is a goldmine and really helps build an audience and capturing emotions of individuals. If your a narrow minded person you might find it slightly offensive on how he and everyone else uses a system to create wealth.

I also think he had too many cookie jars and not enough hands. I hope one day he might restart it, but charge a fee...to keep it to a smaller group...

I'm in the process of setting up  my Zencart, pretty simple so far. Hostgator has an easy plugin and setting it up has been pretty easy. With that said, i'm not drop shipping... I have my own manufactured products.

I'm wondering the same thing, too bad this site is all but dead. I have listened to the podcasts 3 times now, I pick up new stuff every time. I joined up at the warrior forum but like the name says is a little crazy and overwhelming...I haven't done much on there plus I feel everyone here is more on my page and not out to sell you something.

Nice, Just what I needed. I want to learn CAD and have looked into some of the free software but with everything else I just never get the time to really learn any of it. Never thought of looking for a video on YouTube...funny since I put DIY videos on there..lol

Just subscribed...

Hey That's Great! Glad to hear your getting some traffic, I had visited your site early on and now the progress is looking really good. It's hard to keep up with multiple sites as Jack has mentioned in the past specially with young ones, we have 2 under the age of 2 and I can only work on things after 9pm or before 7am...

I really like the theme and layout of the site, all the pictures really help. How does your site look on a mobile platform? Do you like working with the Genesis framework?

I just started this weekend moving over one of my sites to HG as Yahoo was killing me after they canceled my grandfathered plan. Guess there is no loyalty anymore. I still haven't figured out what theme to go with for Heezy.com, transitioning it to my business site as I have a few physical products that I'm finally releasing this year after 2 years of delays.

I'll try to keep up with the site now that I have a new laptop and Iphone...will check the mobile version tomorrow.

Physical Products / From Concept To Sellable Product...
« on: January 24, 2013, 04:39:04 PM »
So I have several physical products that I'll be coming out with this year, was wondering if anyone on here has gone from concept to a final product? I've just got my UPC codes and I'm currently building the product pages on Amazon. I was thinking of doing a video on the whole process, or if anyone else wants to chime with their experiences would be great.

I've sold stuff on ebay for years but have gone away from them due to the high service fees. Looking to branch out on Amazon with official products now and also though one of my sites.

Yea I concur with finding several solutions, my wife can work remotely and when we visit her family in Northern  MN, the internet cuts out pretty frequently for hours at a time, so she goes into town (20 Mins) & (Pop 180) and goes to the coffee shop to use the internet...

Congrats on your Boy, we just had our 2nd and now that he's about 3 months I can finally get back into the swing of it. I wish I could post that often...i'm mostly doing just videos right now but even with the raw video, by the time I edit, create the post, upload and set all the SEO stuff I'm about 1.5 hrs for each one...sometimes longer...

So last year when I started posting How To Videos on Youtube and through my site; http://RicksDIY.com I also decided to ad the banner through adsense. Thinking it might give me a few bucks but not really much to think about...well for the most part I didn't post too many videos and fell out of it for awhile.

Last week I got an email from Google Adsense asking me to finish the the payment process..basically my tax info for my business and I was surprised to see that they were sending me a check for $240...

May not be much for some, but for not really doing anything it was a huge surprise and has motivated me to do allot more videos and really push the site this year.
