Podcasting Central / More iTunes Issues
« on: February 11, 2013, 01:56:09 PM »
I'm trying to resubmit my podcast to itunes. Long story short it's not on itunes anymore. I switched my podcasts to fall under the "podcasts" category/tag on my wordpress website. All my podcasts can be found at: http://agriculturalinsights.com/category/podcasts/

This is the URL I tried to submit to itunes, but it came back with this error message and I have no idea how to edit the XML file for the "podcasts" category. "Error parsing feed: Invalid XML: Error on line 186: the element type "meta" must be terminated by the matching end tag "</meta>".

Any ideas? Thank you in advance.

Motivational Mania / It's Happening!
« on: February 03, 2013, 01:36:04 PM »
Well it's starting to happen. I've increased my email subscribers dramatically. My web traffic has increased dramatically as well. I'm starting the giveaway contest concept that was put out by Jack later in the month. I already have 5 companies on board with products in hand and I'm waiting on a few more to confirm. I also secured an advertising spots from one the companies that I contacted. The check is in the mail! It's starting to happen. I can feel it that I will be making a full time income within the next year or two. I just wanted to give people some motivation that if you stick with it, things will start to happen for you. I'm also in the process of writing my second eBook, which my audience will have to buy.

My first ebook was free, with the stipulation that you have to sign up for my email list in order to get. This has been the best thing that I could have done. Massive increases in traffic and subscribers. I've also got a few superfans who share all my stuff on Facebook and twitter. It can happen, stick with it!

Hey guys and gals,

I've recently published my first eBook. I'm giving it away free to anyone who signs up for my email list. By marketing it through social media, mainly twitter I've increased my subscribers from 17 to 63 in ONE WEEK. This eBook took me about a week to write and I spent 8 hours a day writing it, but it was worth it!!

This might not sound like a lot to some of you, but this is a huge deal to me. For those of you just starting out, you can try and write a free eBook and give it away.

I'm now getting 75-80 visitors a day compared to 30-40 I was getting before writing the book. Each day I get about 4-5 new subscribers since I've released the book.

I wanted to share this success with you, and I'm starting to see the light!!!! A few more months and I'm hoping to have 300 subscribers.

What are you success stories with getting more traffic?

Electronic Product Marketing and Development / My New eBook!!
« on: September 19, 2012, 12:48:37 PM »
Hey guys and gals I just finished my new eBook titled: Mob Grazing: 21st Century Grazing Management. I'm giving it away for free under the condition that people sign up for my email list. So far I have gotten 15 new subscribers in 4 hours and none of them have unsubscribed. Not a big number, but before that I had 24 subscribers.

It took a hell of a lot of work and thanks to the help of the people in this forum and Jack's podcast I did it. So, I'd like to thank you all for your support, and for those of you thinking about writing an eBook, GO FOR IT!

You can review the eBook if you like (without signing up for my email list) by going here, it's a big file, 46MB: http://agriculturalinsights.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/Mob-Grazing-21st-Century-Grazing-Management.pdf

I hope I'm hosting this download properly, anyone have any insight into that?

Getting Sponsors and Advertisors / Example of Advertising Contract
« on: September 19, 2012, 12:33:00 PM »
Does anyone have any examples or templates of advertising contracts that they have successfully used? What are some things that should be included in a contract?

My website is about sustainable agriculture with a focus on grazing and livestock - http://agriculturalinsights.com
I only have 30-50 visitors a day right now. When I get 50, its AWESOME.
I have 32 facebook fans, 90 Twitter followers and 20 YouTube subscribers. Not great.
My eBook is "21st century grazing management" it's 35 pages, and it's badass.

Option 1: I was thinking of giving away my eBook to get more people to come to my site. They would need to sign up for my email list in order to get the book.

Option 2: Sell my eBook to the measly 30-50 people that come to my site. If I sold it for $14.95 and 10% of the people that came to my site bought it, that's not very good money.

I'm thinking I'll be better of giving it away to drive traffic and capture subscriptions.

What do you all think?

I just busted my ass finishing my eBook. I converted it to a PDF and after all that hard work, the damn links don't work. Does anyone know a free solution on how to fix this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Volitorial Video / Leadplayer
« on: September 11, 2012, 11:29:14 AM »
Leadplayer looks pretty awesome, is anyone using it? http://www.leadplayer.com I'm not affiliated with them at all and this is not an affiliate link, just curious if anyone is using it.

It lets you add calls to action in your videos, like "Buy xyz product now!" or an opt-in e-mail box. Pretty freaking cool. It's $107 or $184 for multi-license.

WordPress Wizardry / Displaying a Category on a Page
« on: September 09, 2012, 12:25:14 PM »
I'm having trouble with something. I can't figure out how display a category, in my case "Podcasts", on a page. I would like to name the page, "PODCAST" and have it set up where anytime I make a new podcast, it is displayed on that page. Is there a plugin or way to do this? Any help would be appreciated!

Peer Review - Website Blog Critique / Need some help, BE HONEST please!
« on: August 29, 2012, 09:27:52 AM »
Hey Guys and Gals,

I've been blogging for almost a year now, not consistently. My website is www.AgriculturalInsights.com . I was doing it everyday, but as of late I'm posting 3 times a week with diverse content. Video, photos, writing and podcasts. However,  I'm in the middle of doing 3 ranching internships, and I will be moving out of the country shortly for 6 months to complete my last internship, not using this as an excuse just saying. I'm learning about sustainable cattle ranching. So, most of my content, depending on how often I can post while I'm out of the country will be written. However, I will take video, photos and notes for when I come back to the states and can access a high speed internet connection.

I have about a month before I leave, so I'm asking what can I do during this month to get more traffic or improve my overall website? Paying for traffic is out of the question for now, sorry. Any suggestions that you all can make about the content of the site, the layout, traffic tips or anything else like that would be greatly appreciated. I've hit a wall when it comes to getting more traffic. I'm active on twitter and Facebook and I'm averaging about 30 unique visitors a day.

Get Help From The Pro's / HELP WANTED: Coding/programming Issues!!
« on: August 01, 2012, 06:00:26 PM »
I'm getting this message on my website:
Fatal error: Call to a member function attributes() on a non-object in /home/ellie/public_html/wp-content/themes/confidence/aero/aero-custom-functions.php on line 371

The last thing I did was schedule a post with an embedded youtube video I made. All of my other pages are displayed as normal. My home page, which is the blog and contains my daily posts, has the above message. Can anyone help me!?

WordPress Wizardry / New theme removed my pages - Help!
« on: July 14, 2012, 10:16:57 AM »
So, I bit the bullet and bought a theme. This theme is great, but it won't display my pages in the navigation bar at the top of my website. Before my navigation bar read: "Home About Contact Subscribe eBooks Resources" now, it's reading my post categories: "Home Blogs Podcasts BookReviews Uncatagorized". Does anyone know how to fix this? I'm very very novice when it comes to coding.

I'm using the theme "Confidence" that I bought from theme forest. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

General Business Issues and Ideas / Two businesses, or are they one?
« on: July 08, 2012, 06:31:27 PM »
I'm in need of some advice. I started Agricultural Insights, which started as a podcast, but is now a blog, and admittedly I'm not posting frequently right now. The blog is about sustainable agriculture. However, I'm currently in the middle of doing 3 ranching internships. I love talking and teaching about ranching/grazing and cattle. Not necessarily all things concerned with sustainable Ag. I plan on starting to post more frequently on Agricultural Insights, about grazing/ranching. I really believe that I can turn this into a viable online business, thanks 100% to this community and Jack.

However, I've created a separate website, chrisstelzer.com. The focus of this website will be my personal consultation services for farmers/ranchers, after I'm done with my internships. I might consider doing phone/video consolations, but the main focus will be PERSONAL consultations. I might even do eBooks or paid online classes/videos.

I would like to eventually sell eBooks on Agricultural Insights, get sponsors and other ways of monetization. I know this is dependent on me getting off my ass and posting frequently.

My goals for each website right now:
Ag Insights
  • Blog/video more focused on grazing and ranching management with interviews etc.
  • Monetize with sponsors and ebooks

  • A personal brand website dedicated to promoting myself as a ranch consultant
  • A medium where people can find out about me, and contact me for a consultation

So, I guess my question is, should I just focus on Ag Insights and offer my consultation services there, or go with chrisstelzer.com? My gut is telling me to have two separate websites. chrisstelzer.com would be more professional and minimalistic (i.e. no blog posts, or video content or Facebook or twitter) or should I do those things on christelzer.com?

And a third option would be to change Agricultural Insights into something like "The grazing blog" or "Grazing Management" or something similar.

Does anyone run a main blog that you have monetized, in addition to consultation services?

Thank you for your help, please be brutally honest.

The title says it all. I'm having a difficult time defining what my blog/podcast should be.

My site is about Sustainable Agriculture. Up until this week, I had be putting out a lot of content about what is happening in the world of Sustainable Agriculture. I've been doing interviews with people involved in food freedom, raw milk, and some other organizations. Each week, I'm also doing a book review via YouTube video. These books are generally about how to start farming/ranching and generally anything to do with sustainable agriculture. In addition to all of this, I've done some "how-to" podcasts/blog posts. For example, a show about selecting electric fence chargers. So overall, I don't know if my focus is too general, with all of the how-to's, interviews, video book reviews etc. It seems on one post/podcast I will cater more toward the cattle owner, and other days I'm catering to the urbanite who is interested in raw milk and small scale production. I can see this both being a good and a bad thing.

I'm also unsure of who my audience is. How do I find out and define who my audience is? Once I do find out who my (SMALL, 15-50 unique visitors a day) audience is, do I gear my content toward their interests within the umbrella of Sustainable Agriculture?

My gut tells me that I should be focusing on the small scale farmer and homesteader. However, I'm working on a cattle ranch at the moment with 250 head of cattle and 160 head of sheep, so my experiences here are more geared toward larger operations, which makes it difficult to relate to these smaller scale farms/ranches. Additionally, it will be very difficult to do interviews with people via Skype out here because I'm currently getting internet by tethering to my iPhone. Is it OK to put of interviewing "experts" for the next 4 months?

I'm in need of some advice and help and I'd really appreciate any that you all can offer me.

General Business Issues and Ideas / SCORE
« on: December 21, 2011, 12:04:24 PM »

I wanted to let the 5MWJ community about SCORE. They can be found at www.score.org

SCORE is a nonprofit association dedicated to educating entrepreneurs and helping small businesses start, grow, and succeed nationwide.

I have personally used them with help in determining what type of business entity I should form. They have local workshops, classes and mentors. The classes are cheap, and most of the stuff involved in the classes you can learn for free online, like 5MWJ, but getting a local mentor might be helpful. They also have mentors that specialize in legal issues, accounting, marketing etc. If you are in need of some legal advice, I'd suggest SCORE.

I have no affiliation with SCORE other than using their services.
