Getting Sponsors and Advertisors / Re: First Sponsor, now what?
« on: January 19, 2013, 10:02:44 AM »
Roman,
Well the first one did not work out. I was a little disappointed with no replies to my post asking for help and suggestions.
I think they were looking at several sights and went with one that had more traffic. I have been working on building traffic to be a stronger pull for future advertisers.

GP,
I got rid of the Meta and invited all who reistered to subscribe using Aweber.
Just had two more actually register in wordpress. I am dumbfounded how they did that. There is no link to get them there that I know of.  :o
I sent each of them a message as to how they registered, but no response.
Did I miss something?

Thanks

Does anyone know of a plug-in for current silver-gold pricing?
Possibly one for the current stock market as well?

Thanks

I thought that might or at least hoped that was the reason as well.
We will wait and see.
I am in Nevada so I can't make it.
I helped Jack in Utah last October for a couple of days and agree that traveling takes a bunch out of you.
If he gets west again....

Thanks GP.  ;D
I sent an email to all that signed up that way to get them signed into my AWeber.

WordPress Wizardry / Wordpress Register, what does that do?
« on: September 06, 2012, 08:59:18 AM »
I am having people sign up using the "Register" in the Meta Tag area, instead of the AWeber "Signup" I have on the page.
Not sure if they are confused or I am as to what registering will do.
My understanding is that the register is more for contributors or admins and not to get updated from the site, right or wrong here?
Thinking of getting rid of the register option or just contact those that sign up to see if they wanted to subscribe instead of registering?

Thanks

WordPress Wizardry / Re: Facebook Spam or is it?

Heidi,
That plugin looks good, will take a closer look.
Yea, this spam actually talked about what was in the article which made me think it was not automated. :-\
What do you use as criteria when you look at spam?

Thanks

WordPress Wizardry / Facebook Spam or is it?
« on: September 04, 2012, 08:29:56 PM »
I am using akismet and it filters most spam very well.
Had a few get through and I am not sure when to call it spam and when to approve it.
Case in point, I wrote an article and got about 11 responses on the same day, all from facebook addresses. It all went to spam and then I looked through them. Some have a minimal facebook page and seem to be a legitimate response to my article and some cannot link to facebook at all. However, with so many from facebook on the same day, I am questioning whether or not I am reading to much into this.
Any thought on weeding through the crap to get to the good ones?

Would appreciate some thoughts on this.

General Business Issues and Ideas / Re: Domain name for sale

You make a good point and I agree.
They started at 5k and I told them to jump in the lake, it was worth more like 1-2k.
So I may make a last and final offer at 1.2k and see what happens.
Just trying to vet the company before I end up on the evening news as the victim... :-[

General Business Issues and Ideas / Domain name for sale
« on: May 19, 2012, 07:53:55 AM »
I am considering purchasing a domain name that could help me drive traffic.
I purchased my current names through Go Daddy and the one I was offered is through SEDO.
Not familiar and wanting to avoid a scam since they contacted me, could anyone lend their knowledge on this site?
Is it legit?

Thanks

WordPress Wizardry / Re: Homepage Sticky Post
« on: April 04, 2012, 11:22:34 PM »
Got it!
I found a "sticky post" plugin called "SM Sticky Clicky Star".
I wanted to keep a survey I am running at the top. It puts a star symbol next to each post and lets you choose which ones to turn on or off. I was able to move a second post to just above my survey so both are sticky at the same time.
This should work great for surveys or polls that I will keep front and center.
